What maintenance does a propane stove need?

I have had a propane stove for 1 year now. There is one thing I am noticing on the stove part, (not sure of the name of this part) it's a little white tube thing just on the edge of the stove burner, on top of it there is some kind of metal tube. This whole piece is maybe 1/2 long, it sparks so the burner will light. Anyways, on the burners that I use most often, the metal part is a lot shorter than when I bought it, do I need to replace this part from time to time? The manual doesn't say much about it. What other maintenance do I need to do to a propane stove/oven other than clean it? Thanks Chris

that's the Piezo lighter - I think you can get replacements but I just resorted to the match - it was quieter. I had a Force 10 marine stove and would clean out the burners every couple of years but a land stove might not need that.

I have a gas range, which I suppose is just about the same thing. I have found that they're pretty much maintainence free.

I did have to replace some thing that lit the oven one time, but that was it.

When I lived up in the mts. at a cow camp I had a guy come from town to check the propane range--it was ancient.

He told me that these stoves have virtually no moving parts, and pretty much last a lifetime.
