You should ask for a discount for your troubles. It's costing you time and money to be making a trip back. If they didn't have the tires in stock that you wanted, they should've told you straight off. Before they put the other tires on, I'd take a serious look at them, make sure that's what you asked for.

I doubt very seriously that you're gonna get any cash back. Merchants are pretty adverse about turning loose of cash. You'd be more likely to get a discount on the new tires, as they have some profit built into them that can be discounted.
It's worth a try, and like I said earlier, your time and trouble are worth something, especially when the merchant is the one that caused the problem.

No, it's never happened to me but it's happened to people I know. Even more common is selling people with trucks passenger car rated tires because they are cheaper but carry less load.
Now what you need to do is check each and every lug nut and stud for damage and to see if the nuts come off. Tire shops are nototrious for snapping, stripping, and over tightening lug nuts. Lug nuts need to be evenly tightened with a torque wrench or a torque stick to help prevent rotor waroage and allow you to be able to remove the wheel in the event of a flat.
Also check your vehicle for a sticker that shows inflation pressure for your particular mosel, usually on a door jamb or in the glove box. Then check the pressure in the tires. tire shops just inflate to the maximum pressure marked on the side of the tire with no consideration of what vehicle the tires are on.

I've had problems with overinflation on the car and serious (to the point of being unsafe) underinflation on the van. Mom and Pop had lug nuts come OFF the wheel shortly (within 100 miles) after having tires changed because lugs weren't tightened.
I reread your post, a word of warning, new tires don't come in on Sunday, most of the time it takes 3 to 5 BUSINESS days for tires to come in. The shop simply put tires they had in stock on your car, at the same price.

If you're ever in Wichita Falls, TX, don't buy tires from THIS place, they ripped my mother off.
She bought brand new tires there, which they mounted and gave a guarantee on them. One of the tires wore out and the tread started falling off while it was still under warranty (It was still NEW). So she went back there and they looked. They said looked like they had made a mistake and mounted it wrongly. But then they wouldn't replace it at their expense because it had been mounted wrong and that voided the warranty.
THEY mounted it wrong. It was THEIR fault. So to my way of thinking, they should have put a new tire on at their own expense. Am I right in thinking that way?

They are total morons and if god is good, will not be in business much longer!
You are totally right, and to end your disgruntlement, they should have bowed and scraped and given you a deeeeeeep discount. That's all that settles MY ruffled feathers, and at that it takes some nice talking!
After all, I *get* new tires to AVOID tire trouble, le duh!
edited to add: even if they did me right, as noted above, I'd be really cautious about doing business with the noodlebrains again.

Most places around here give a lifetime "rotate and balance" when you buy a set of tires. Be careful cutting ties with the guy who sold them. It could end up costing you more.

These guys sound like our local tire shop. We ordered 4 new directional tires for hubby's car. They said "there's no such thing as directional tires." Funny, that's what's on there now! (they throw water off in one direction only, hence the name.) We finally got 2 out of the 4 tires, which they then mounted in reverse, saying it didnt matter which way they went on. 3 weeks later, the other 2 tires, which are NOT what we ordered. These cost more to mount than the others. All told, we spent 200 bux on low end tires that are not what we ordered because this guy is more interested in making out with his gf in the office than in doing his job. We filed a complaint with the owner and told him we will not bring our truck there. After all, it took 5 weeks to get 4 tires, and they were not what we ordered at all. 2 have already had to be replaced (less than 3 months.) and they did not honor the warranty at all. Jerks.

Your first clue to not deal with these people was when they told you there's no such thing as "directional" tires. That right there tells me these people don't know what they're doing.
As for them not warranting the tires, I'd contact the manufacturer and let them know what they're dealers are doing to their customers, this can't be good for the tire manufacturers business. They might send you to another dealer that will warranty the tires for you.

We had a "run in" a few years ago with a Western Auto (Advance Auto) store in Wamego KS. The owner did not want to warranty tires (road hazzard) we bought in the Topeka store. The warranty stated that it was good in ANY W.A. store. He went through the roof and pitched a fit and tried to charge us for fixing the tires. I wrote a letter to the head office and got a nice letter back telling me that "If he SOLD the road hazzard, he HAD to fix the tires at no charge". He did, indeed sell the road hazzard, but didn't want to fix the tires. One evening, we had another flat to fix, so we took it in to him. He was visibly upset and didn't WANT to do it, but fixed it anyway (Head Office had "talked" to him......). While he (owner) was in the back with the tire, his son was up front while we were wandering around the store. I met him at the end of one isle. My wife was about 10' - 12' behind me. Something told me things were not "quite right". As I turned to go back to be with my wife, I saw the guy stick his elbow out, thighten up his arm and lean in toward my wife with the obviuos intention of shoving her. My wife, to this day, does not remember the next few seconds, but I do. She (all 6'2" of her) tightened up and STEPPED INTO his arm and sent him flying sideways! It was a move that would make any NFL Fullback green with envy! As he fell, he clambered sideways and tore down part of a shelf full of small items. As he lay sprawled out on the floor, she just kept on walking as if nothing happened.
My only regret is that it happened so fast, and my wife took care of him, so I didn't get the chance to go to jail......
All over a stupid tire warranty he was required by his company to honor.....
