Question For TN Landowners

My question pertains to zoning in the Harriman TN area.

To give a little rundown on the saga...........
My mother moved to TN to live on my sisters property, apparantly she has a few acres, with the intention of my sis putting a modular home in for her to live in. This was all to be already setup when she made the move. Well she made the move and nothing is there. She says they are having zoning problems and it may not be put in for 6 months or more. Says it has to be zoned for a subdivision for just one house.

It's all sketchy and real confusing but it's all the info myself or my brothers can drag out of my mom.

All 3 of us tried to talk her out of it before the move. I don't talk to my sister and with any luck I will never have to. She/sis won't do anything unless there is monetary gain in it for her even from our mother. I don't think things panned out the way she planned and is waffling on the situation.
Mom doesn't have any money, but what little she does have sis will take it somehow.

The zoning thing sounds fishy to me and she is just pulling that out of her butt to make excuses. She is as slimy as the day is long.

DW is looking for places back here for her if we can pry her away.
She could live here but it's a 2 story with alot of stairs.

One brother lives at elevation in Colorado and mom says she can't breath very well there.

Another handicapped brother (in North KC) is needing a place to live also and has made mention that they could share a place.

I'd be a happy camper to catch the skank in a big lie!

Any suggestions?

Don't live in that area, but around here, most of the zoning issues are under local and the county's jurisdiction. Thus, they can vary from town to town, county to county.

Like most places, the more rural, the less likely to be inundated with restrictions.

I don't live in that exact area, our county doesn't have much in the way of zoning laws but city limits are completely different.
I would find out if it's in city limits or if it's in Roane County area and contact the proper office there.

So I guess the best approach would be to find out what county it is in and the contact the county seat and find out zoning restrictions?

I don't know if it's in the city limits or rural at this point.
I will though.

It's in Roane County so I would start there. If you know the street address you could probably figure out if it's in city limits of Harriman.
