Excaliber dehydrator sheet question

Has anyone come up with a solution to substitute the $8.50 a sheet Paraflexx baking sheets for the Excalibor Dehydrators? Does parchment paper work? I tried wax paper.....it doesn't work. Thanks!

I wondered if you could use silicone sheets, like Silpat or something. It would be a little expensive at the outset, but you could cut it to shape and it would be reusable, saving money in the long run. If it can withstand oven temperatures, I would think it could handle a dehydrator, just not sure it would allow the stuff to dry properly or whether the drying would harm the silcone. Also, would cutting it cause any problems? Any input anyone? Sorry Ann, just brainstorming, lol.

How about the baking paper you use to line cake pans with? No wax, and will take the heat.

Someone told me they use the craft plastic canvas sheets...I haven't tried it...

I did call Excalibur about a year ago to see about buying their plastic screening to retrofit a very old dehydrator I have that has a window screen type tray, & excalibur wanted an arm & both legs. Would have been well on my way to a new dehydrator. But the old one works so well!

Oops, sorry. I was thinking about the basic screening, not the solid. I have a friend who does use the parchment paper...I think for fruit leathers.
