Location... a little help, please

I cannot understand WHY members do not add their location to their profile/posts. This makes me crazy :baby04: :baby04: , because they ask for specific answers to questions, but the reader has no idea where the OP is located.

I'd wager that many folks, like myself, might offer a helpful response, but I think many of us get tired of typing/asking "Where are you located?" PLEASE, whether you have 1 or 1000 posts, add your location, please? It might mean the difference between 1 response and 20.

I think that there are hundreds if not thousands of posters who are on the run, from the law, ex-spouses, potential ex-spouses, spouses of others, the IRS, Child support agencies, et. al.

This could be true however, who's gonna associate "bugsylover" in IN w/the child support loser?

Talking Yes, just putting the state would help

Of course, they might think that someone here would try and find them for some ulterior motive. I doubt that any one is that interested, but you never know. I'm not worried in the least about my location being on here.
People have mentioned this before and a few would include that info but mostly it's like water on a ducks' back.

Don't sweat it. If they don't want to put their location it's their choice. If it means they don't get site specific information that's also their choice. It's such a non-issue I can't get too worked up over it. Go have another eggnog.

Not having location has saved me a lot of typing. I have passed on many questions that I could have helped with if I had known where they were. Even a vague area would help.

Good topic HillTop Daisy. There have been times I might have been able to offer information but didn't because my southern location information definitely wouldn't apply to anything other than the southeast, much less who knows where.

If I don't know someones location, I can't offer any information. Maybe it's just me, but if they aren't willing to give their location, I'm not going to post a reply asking for it.

I'm sure it would if someone was familiar with your area or lives there.

Yup, if you are in Wisconsin and I'm in south Texas, just about everything is different. It was mid 70's again today. :baby04:

I am not sure you checked out where I live. But, it does help when I respond to know that perhaps, just perhaps, my information is a bit off...

I comment in the horse section and I swear it is like we are talking about different animals it is so different.

Even if you can't give your closest town, which half of your state, would be a big help. Now if there are some Bonnie & Clyde,s on here, I understand. LOL Eddie

I agree--saying New York--or Georgia, dosent help a bit, unless all sections of the state are exactly the same.
Now, Eastern N.Carolina, thats understandable--as I hope mine is...

Thanks hilltopdaisy, I keep forgetting to change mine.

Another peeve that I have is when people are looking for help on the livestock forums and instead of indicating breed (more of an issue in the cattle forum) or basics on the animal, they'll state offer their animal/pet's name. Often they loose valuable diagnosis time waiting for someone familiar enough with their history to show up and offer an opinion. Logically, if they state that they state species, breed and specifics, they will get much quicker responses.

Cool

I'm often disappointed when I zip up to see where a poster is located. Even a beautiful description of someone's garden or poultry set-up can mean more when one knows the location - or even the general area. In the poultry forum someone posted beautiful pictures of baby ducks - newly hatched - and like most people I was concerned, until they said they were from California and not to worry about the climate - whew! If you tell us about your small herd of anything and how it's doing - we really need to know where it's located to either appreciate your post or be concerned.

You have converted me. I bow to the collective pressure. I've listed my location to within +- 20 miles. What's next, my phone number and ssn.
