Question Rain in the southeast

Just wondering how much any of you other folks in the drouth sections of the southeast faired with this storm. I have yet to wander out and look at my rain gauge but Im guessing at least an inch here. Before last evening we were 25 inches shy for the year.

My rain gauge shows about 3/4 of an inch this morning, the first measuarable rain since Thanksgiving morning, thats 3 and a half weeks ago and an inch a week is the normal here in the Blue Ridge foothills.

Yes! The deluge is awesome!!! But our ground is so parched that after an all night rain, there are no standing puddles. Still, every drop we can get is a marvel...and welcome!

If it wasn't a cold rain, I'da been out playing in it! Mom used to send us outside naked with a bar of soap during a good rain with no thunder and lightning. Course, the neighbors might report me for animal cruelty if I did that nowadays....

Meg...lovin' the rain!

In West-central, TN we are having our typical wet winter. I use a 3" high coffee cup on a picnic table as a rain gauge. I emptied it out about mid-week and it is full now. Not much run-off, so it is soaking in.

We are getting our first measurable rain in 59 days!

I havent been out to check the gauge, but EVERY drop is much appreciated

I've had to plant my Winter pasture twice this year because the first planting died from lack of water

I think Meg got more than I did. I'm about 80 miles East of her

we are 15 inches down but for the last month or so, we have been getting fairly regular rainfall, puddles not drying up in between. the creek has kept an inch or two of water too.

it's been snowing here all day, bitter cold with 40 mph winds, but i don't care as long as moisture is falling from the sky and landing on the earth.

i was just thinking that the weather is just about normal for this time of year. yaaaayy!!

We ended up with 2.5 inches, but we're still 18 inches behind for the year

Keep hope...your dorught was severe, but you can recover. Here in Illinois we had almost that deficit a couple years ago. Last year we got back on track for the year, and this year made up all the rest of the difference plus our normal allotment! I think we've been getting all your rain.

Please don't hate me.

I didn't measure it, but got 3.5 gallons of rain water collected (for hair washing) in about 12-15 minutes. Then my arm was tired so I went back inside. I had to wait a bit at first for the deluge to wash the dust and dirt off the metal roofs, though.
