Smile Tread Mill or Hot Walker Power ?

I know the Amish used to have a Horse or mule walk on a Tread Mill..but wouldn't a Horse hot Walker work as well ? As long as you could keep the animal moving ?

The load would need to be moved down where it could be hitched in like on a sorgum mill or a pug mill. Have seen folks grinding grain, making ice cream, and bricks.
Take a look at syurpmakers.com. You can see a setup there. Then you can adapt the power to your aplication.

I was reading about one of the Progress Days type horsepower demo events where a guy had laid a horsedrawn mower in its side, hitched a horse to the tongue (like you would to the arm of the millstone wheel) and drove it in a circle. He was using the action of the pittman arm to work an ice cream maker.

Only problem I can see is that on a hot walker, they would have to pull with their faces. If the arms were lower so they could put their weight into it, it would be better.

A machine with what looks like maybe six wheel spokes overhead that will walk horses in a circle (you attach the horses to leads hanging from the end of each spoke)for warm ups or cooling out. I think I saw bloodhounds walking on one in a movie too.

Smile Donkey power

Saw a picture of a blind folded Donkey turning a Mill Stone, to grind grain. Lets say this could be used to do several things all at the same time and making 12 volt power as well. If you had several Donkeys that would work you could change off every so often.
Donkeys can pull the cart to town, work in the fields in season, get in the wood and all the other things around the place. Don't know why more folks don't use them ?
