I have several saws and do a lot of woodworking. My advice is: you need the biggest (most powerful) motor that will fit on the saw. Enough power and sharp blades make work much easier, safer, and enjoyable.

I would look at the sears tech table. That or give sears a call. See what motor was on that table when it was produced. Then check out harbor freight or Grainger and get the right SIZE and TYPE of motor.

What model number is the saw?

What size is it..8 or 10 inch???

Is it direct drive or belt drive?

I may have a manual for your saw and could look it up if you posted the model number.

Forget buying a new motor. Check ebay. Some people make money parting craftsman table saws out. They are worth a heck of alot more as parts than they are as whole units. Might even try parting this saw out, and buying a new one with your profits.

Clove
