Once in a while I will use pine cones to get a fire started. They burn quick and hot.

We use dry ones as a fire starter. Kids have a blast picking them up in the spring knowing they will be for fires in the fall.

Yep. Firestarters. Dipped once in melted wax. I often pile a bunch in a nice-looking basket decorated with a bit of ribbon or a bow, and give to my wood-burning friends for Christmas gifts.

Yep, I use them to start fores also. I prefer the yellow pine for cones, cause they are large and are nice and dry when they fall on the yard. I fill prolly 10 to 12 large feed bags during the summer and they provide kindling for fires all winter.
