Gulping down a squirrel!

This morning, while brushing my teeth, I hear yelps and barks of pure glee. Looking out the bathroom window I see our two full size half-Lab Dogs had taken out a squirrel and as I shout my disapproval, one of the Girls takes the dead squirrel body (still limp) and begins to GULP it down. It took only two gulps - gross. This same dog caught and ate rabbits all summer - and although her Sister helps with the kills, she does not eat the small game. (She did eat part of the Bob Cat....but thats another one)

Now the question: In another thread I posed the question could our Labs have obtained Dog Cooties (the mange) via Coyote (whom they loved to pester too) however, in light of this morning's spectacle, I wonder if the Dog Cooties more probably came from squirrels?

Do squirrels have Dog Cooties too?

Shots are all up to date, and the worming stuff too. The issue now is the Dog Cooties.

Eewwww. I don't think I've ever seen a dog swallow something as big as a squirrel. Gross is right. That dog is going to have one big hairball. I hope he's ok. I guess you could google squirrels and mange. ?? Eeeewwwww. My dogs get little mice and moles, but they don't eat them, they just play with them untill they pass, and then leave them. We don't have any squirrels.

Did it look something like this?

My dogs eat the local wildlife all the time. No problems so far.

The only time we've had a problem with the dogs eating their catch is when one of them ate an entire rabbit, came in the house and barfed it back up all over the brand new hardwood floor. The cat gets tapeworms but the dogs don't.

EEEEEWWWW NASTY! Yep - it looked like that only she (The Lab Girl Dog) was standing up and smiling! Your dog looks happy about it too. She has not thrown it up yet but we are keeping her outside just in case. Eeeeewwwww gross. I could not even eat breakfast this morning........eeeeweww

LOL...that makes me laugh. My dogs are the same way. If they're eating something and they think I'm going to take it,they hurry up and inhale it. It doesn't matter what it is,I don't even think they chew it. And,usually, they vomit it back up shortly after.
The cats vomit things up,too..and regardless of what it is,it's usually still whole. Really, really gross.

As to your question, sorry I can't help you there. I've heard of mangey squirrels but I have no idea if dogs can catch mange from them.
