Plotmaster

Has anybody ever used a Plotmaster (www.theplotmaster.com) to plow a field? I’m thinking of purchasing one to use it with an ATV my field is not very smooth but rather hilly and it has never been plowed. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I looked at the site. It is very similar to a no-till grain drill. I would be concerned about hitting rocks that might do damage to it, but they say it will handle rocky ground. How expensive is it? A good way to seed hills without causing serious erosion.

Plotmaster 400

The cheapest one I've seen (also the smallest) start at $3,500.00.

Do you have a local hardware store or out door equipment dealer that will rent one to you. It seems like an awful big expense if you will only use it one or two times.

How big a field and what do you want to do with it? There was supposed to be a test plot planted by an outdoor store here in one of my fields this year to show one off but the owner's ex-wife got a restraining order against him and the field was within the distance he wasn't allowed to go so it didn't go forward. Have heard of people burning out some pretty big ATVs pulling them on hills.
It's nothing like a no-till drill, the plotmaster is more of a one-pass tillage and planting machine whereas no-till drills will only open up enough ground to get the seed in.

If you just want to get it re-seeded, hire somebody with the right equipment to either till it and seed it or burn it off and no-till it. I do custom no-till seeding with a 15' drill for $25/acre, you buy the seed. It'd take a lot of acres to make an ATV and one of those competitive.

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you wanting to seed a pasture?

Yes, basically this is an old pasture that has been neglected for quite a few years. I also have 12 flat acres that I intend to use for hay on a regular basis.
