How many men here grow a beard for fall?

That used to be a country tradition, that farmers would grow a beard for fall and winter to keep them warm while hunting up grub and doing chores. I used to when I lived the totally rural existence, though my beard is a puny and pathetic thing to see. Now, all I can grow is a moustache due to the IRON FIST of corporate Amuhrica.

How about y'all? Do you fellas grow a beard for fall and winter?

How about you wimmen folks? :1pig: Heh-heh-heh, couldn't resist that one. Sigh.

Now Rose, you go leaving open sentences like that and the thread will get locked down fer sure. Most years I've grown one, started in late November and kept it till spring shearing. I guess the last year or two vanity took hold and when it went from grey to white I backed off on it.

I don't actually usually get rid of my beard. I trim it down to a half inch in the spring and usually once or twice more in the summer and from then on it grows until next spring.

I don't get rid of my beard. Had one for many years and would feel naked without one. Also no one would recognize me without one.
What seems to surprize many is my beard keeps me cooler in the summer as well as warmer in the winter.

I haven't shaved since 3 days before I left corporate America in '86... I generally let my beard grow longer in the winter, though.

Year around here. Even wore one for about half of my Navy career - until some admiral decided that having a beard made one "stupid". Such is the peace time Armed Forces.

I dont shave.

I wore a beard during the majority of my Naval career, though since my retirement in '01 I have not shaved.

Well, since I don't shave my legs during the winter...LOL, you mean the guys and their beards ! My husband and my son both have "scruff" on their faces...what makes it even funnier is I had to shave my husband's head last week (water dried the heck out of his scalp!). Kind of looking like Uncle Fester with a beard

I itch when I shave, the ingrown hairs get infected and drain a lot.

I usually grow one. 'But usually I grow mine during the summer months. When I shave during the summer months I'll get rashes and break out with pimples around my neck. Growing a beard relieves my problem and then I shave it off right after deer season is over with.

But this year I just kept on shaving right on through the summer. But I did start growing a goat-tee, which I now proudly display.

Bob's in construction, has grown one each winter since I've known him. When he mentioned shaving it off last spring, I tod him that I would miss it. The little sweetie never managed to get it shaved.

I usually grow a winter coat. It makes me have less to maintain.

I used to grow one every winter, and shave it every spring. I grew it out one winter about 12 or 13 years ago and never shaved it again.

I'd love to, but can't: there are lines across my face where hair just won't grow, so the effect looks like someone took to me with a machette. LOL

For many years "Big Oil Co." wouldn't let me grow a beard. I could have a mustache and had one for many years. In 1993 they relaxed the rules and I grew a beard and have had one ever since. I usually keep it trimmed rather short. Occasionally I will "forget" to trim it then Country Lady will politely remind me that I need to trim it or find another place to sleep and eat. Her gently reminder works every time.
