Leaking roof

We've had a leak in the kitchen ceiling and it's gotten pretty bad. Sometimes it leaks in two other places in the ceiling clear on the other side of the house.

We've had four roofers look at our roof and they all say the roof looks just fine and in excellent condition...sealed well along the chimney and around the pipes coming out of the roof...two roofers put more sealent down in the chimney/pipe area "just in case"...it made no difference.

I'm wondering if the guttering is causing the problem. The gutters have holes and leaks in them...could they be letting water into the attic?

And no, I can't go into the attic and see where the leak is traveling...the opening to the attic is about 20 foot above the basement steps, and because of how the steps and walls were built, no way to get a ladder up on the steps to get to the attic.

Could the gutters leak like that?

Not sure what to tell you other than you better get it fixed and quick. Nothing brings a building down faster than a leaking roof. Once the roof is compromised, things deteriorate rapidly.

Sounds like you need to get a roofer back and make them find someway in to the attic to inspect to see what the problem is.
