Question for Ninn

Hi - see you're from the tri-boro area. Born and raised in Lanesboro - just wondering if we know each other.

I have lived in this area for about 12 years. I started out in Susquehanna, then Oakland, then Hallstead, then back to Oakland. I don't know alot of people in the area, but it's possible that we have met if you have been in the area. I was born in Binghamton and grew up mostly in Afton, NY.

Lightbulb

I lived in Oakland for a few years, too. My nephews own French's Auto on E. Main St. I went from Lanesboro to Jackson to Oakland to Thompson to West Plains, MO - haha. Brother lives in Binghamton, another brother still in Lanesboro, sister between Suskie and Thompson. Step son in Thompson and Step daughter in New Milford. All the family is there - we're the only ones that are pioneers. Last month we went back - my oldest daughter (lives in Richford, NY) got married - we made a few trips back to Suskie and surrounding areas that week. The sad part is that it doesn't feel like home anymore. It sure is a small world! So do u live on Oak Hill or in town? One of my nephews lives in Oakland proper. Sad to see all the mountain tops gone due to the quarries - love the PA bluestone, but it's sad to see the bareness. Thanks for answering my question!

I currently live in that nasty trailer park over near the race track. I can hear the engines all summer long, but it's balanced out by the beautiful trees and such behind me. We used to own a house over on State St. in Oakland, but no longer live in that area.

I agree, it's sad to see all the empty, stripped out and abandoned quarries around here. You would think that once they are mined out, somebody would be smart enough to re-plant some trees and such.

Funny thing about this place-I've been here all the time, and it has never felt like home. But where I grew up never felt like home either. I guess "home" is where you find it and where you make it.

Know what you mean about feeling like home - Missouri is home for us. Susquehanna County never felt like home for me, either. But I've found my niche now - hope you find yours someday, too.
Lucky you and the race track - my ex races and I spent alot of Fridays at that track. Don't miss it at all.
Yeah - some trees would be nice on the mountain tops - idiots probably will just leave it barren! Then wonder why the river is full of sediment! Out here the waters are crystal clear - beautiful.
Well - good luck to ya - maybe we'll meet one day. We'll be back in June for a graduation and I'm gonna be a memaw - hopefully in June, too. Take care!
