Stay at home mom makes $4000./month with blog site.

I only caught part of this on the world news last night. Don't remember what the real story was but they mentioned this lady is a stay at home mom who has her own blog website and she makes $4000 a month from the advertisement on her website. Makes me wonder what Chuck is making off of this site we proudly like to chat on.

$4000 a month, Mmmmh! I wonder if I could get my wife to start up something like this. She likes to chat on the phone all the time. Surely she could type it all on her own blog site and have lots, and lots of people join in.

$4000 a month! I could spend a lot of my time fishing and hunting!

It is very, very, very rare for someone to make that kind of money on a blog. She's probably got a blog in the top few hundred worldwide, and there are millions upon millions of people blogging.

I'm guessing the story was about www.thepioneerwoman.com

One of WIHH's favorite websites to visit.

To get that kind of money you have to get thousands of hits a day. Your content must be interesting to a lot of people. I think very few bloggers make any money at all.

This was the woman who a while back went on e-bay or Craig's List to sell the Polemon cards one of her kids snuck into the shopping cart. There was a thread about it. She made it all pretty humorous and, obviously, managed to create something profitable from it.

I wish I had the creativity to come up with something like that.

That is gross income of course. There can be a lot of overhead costs on a web site with that much traffic.

It is like the folks on late nite TV that tell us they made $50,000 the first month selling real estate.

Yea, it happens, but is very rare, & we can find another 79 people who hoave lost their rears in real estate market.

Would be curious what this site grosses, but probably rude to ask eh?

It doesn't even have Google Adsense on it! I breezed through it a minute ago. I guess horses and dogs don't appeal to me much. I did not find it interesting at all.

But then I hate blogs.

Yes, that was what the story was about. I've slept since then and I can't remember very much past this morning.

Why do you care? Whether Chuck makes a million dollars a year, or nothing on this site, what does it matter to you? Does HT give you any MORE or any LESS if he is making money, or not? Obviously it gives you SOMETHING, as you continue to stick around.

I don't understand why anyone would WANT to speculate on how much someone makes from a website they frequent. If you feel moved to send a donation, that's up to you -- if you don't, it's not going to stop Chuck from allowing you to come here. It's the content and the community that is being provided to us -- for free. Chuck has NEVER asked for money for the upkeep of the site. If you get something from this place, great -- if you don't, then choose to not be involved. If you feel others are making money off of something that YOU provide, then choose to not be a part of it, or better still, start your own site and take all the revenue from your very own efforts.

I find it reprehensible that people continue to show up, continue to use this place as it was intended -- for FREE -- then speculate on how much money is being made by the site owner. I, for one, hope he *IS* making something off the advertising here, as it *MIGHT* make up for the frequent judgment and speculation on his net worth (not to mention his motives) that he has to put up with with this type of thread.

She's always over on the CattleToday.com website and prompting people to visit her blog. Enough posters finally complained enough that she doesn't show up much anymore.

I come here to read (too much), learn (not enough) and enjoy. I do the same thing with my television. I don't ask anybody what their take is. I also expect plenty of advertising so I won't get a direct bill from them and the lights stay on.

I hope these guys force Bill Gates step down a notch or three. It won't happen, but it'd be nice to know I'd rubbed keyboards with $bizzillionaires.

hmmmm - guess I've never read another thread where someone was speculating about who made what here or not...

- not that I even care if anyone profits because I enjoy the site.

...seems to be much ado about nuthin...and a lot of ALL CAPS yelling...

maybe a "take a breath moment" or a "rough day" - I know I've had one.

There are a lot of simple minds out there that thrive on drivel.....

I spent about ten seconds on the site and felt my IQ dropping drastically....
