Any craft ideals for scrap copper tubing?
Occasionally when I'm working around a job site and see scrap pieces of copper tubing laying around, I pick it up, take it home, and throw it in my scrap copper bucket for recycling. Most pieces are only around 5 inches or so.
But instead of selling for scrap I'm wondering if I could make some kind of crafts with them for my wife to sell at flea markets and our future roadside veggie stand.
Some I thought maybe I could cut and make finger Rings out of. Maybe find some kind of a punch set and stamp designs on. I also thought I might could cut some of them long ways and flatten out, but what would I do with them after that?

My sister makes garden art and trellises with copper tubing. I'll try to find some photos for you.

Oh good Wildwood Flower - I'd love to see some of the pics!
My suggestion was going to be windchimes, RH.

I tried to get some photos from my sister--no luck.
I googled "copper trellis photos" and got a great bunch. Try that.
They are really nice.

You can make some very cool candle holders out of them. Or how about flower holders?

My sister's best friend made candle holders from some one time. She just spirled it so the base was large and the top was just right for giving the candle a good squeeze. They were very pretty.

Why don't u try making fishing pole holders? might need a small soldering gun but it works!!! You could also make rings if u would cut them down and smooth them out.

Windchimes are beautiful made from copper. You have to test the tone of the pipe, we just hold them by the ends loosely and tape with another piece.

Thought about that, but since most of my pieces are just around 5 inches long that would take a lot of soldering to make a still with. I had the finger rings, wind chimes, and maybe a whistle already in my mind.
Thanks everyone for your ideals. Very much appreciated.

Actually, DS2 just broke DH's glasses right in half along the nose bridge and DH fixed a piece of tiny copper tubing along there to mend it temporarily...

I saw a picture where they made small garden gates out of pieces of copper tubing. It had a watering pot welded in the center. Real cute.

I consider copper to be a good long term investment or at least inflation defense like gold and silver if i had a way to melt and mold i would be keeping for bullion.

i considered this too. no need to smelt it IMHO, just store it. ideally one would store useful pieces of metals, bar stock and pipe in useful length, of aluminum, brass and copper etc. but that digresses from the intent of this thread.
