Driveway Monitors

I think I'm going to go ahead and get a driveway monitor. There are several on eBay ranging from 15-100 dollars. The main difference seeming to be how far they transmit and how many transmitters they can receive from.

Does anyone have a recommendation? I'm thinking of this one - because it's cheap and would transmit far enough.... but because it's so much cheaper than the others I'm worried that it might be very poor quality. Does anyone here have that brand?

Thanks again,
Jessica

Ah, that's the other one I was thinking about on eBay. It's about 60$ there with shipping too. It has the option of multiple transmitters which I thought would be nice. I'm OK with spending up to 100$ for a good system, but I don't want to spend anymore than I really have to for something that will work.

Thanks for the recommendation! Any other suggestions?

I have two just like this, but I bought and modified mine just for deer hunting, so I only use them for a short while. Seem to work good for my use. I am thinking you might get tired of replacing batteries, might want to think of going to solar and/or get one where the receiver will plug into the wall instead of batteries.

If you are putting it on a post that fences in horses be prepared for them to check it out every day for awhile. My stallion set it off often when it was first put up. I kept going to the window and couldnt figure out why it was going off ( trees where blocking my view of the horse ) Hubby finally caught him doing it

I built one a while back using those little FRS radios and a pressure switch. Remember going to the gas station and running over the hose and the bell would ring inside? I used this principal to key the radio with the alert tone. I used a cheap scanner in the house to monitor the frequency of the radio. I had to do this because my drive is over 2700' long. The FRS radio will cover this distance easily..

They have the same one at Harbor Freight. I had a problem with trespassers on my property. My neighbor is on comp and we picked up 3 PI's dressed in camo (they even had their faces painted) on my game cam, hiding on my POSTED property to video tape the neighbor. I purchased 2 of them for 15 a piece and then hid them where the PI's liked to hide. I them gave the reciever to my neighbor. Everytime they go off he sends his wife out to spray the field down with paint balls. She got them pretty good last week. The ones at harbor freight are all on the same channel. So you can purchase several and only need to use 1 reciever.

Seriously considering the one from Harbor Freight. We have a problem with people thinking our driveway is the access road for the property behind us - it is NOT!

I bought two from Harbor Freight. Neither one lasted very long.

Ours from Harbor Freight is around 3 years old and works great. Cheap, too.
