Georgia Apples??

I am in southern indiana and most of the apple harvest was ruined by early spring-like weather, and then a cold snap. I am going to Peachtree City Ga at the end of the month I was wondering about getting apples there as there are no local apples to be had here. I am driving soo really anywhere in between would be good unless, the same problem occured there also. Anybody know of a good place to get apples in the atlanta area??

Good luck. The same problem happened in the Metro atlanta area as in Indiania. But there are isolated patches out there with apples.

Yep Ellijay is a great place to find 'em in normal times...not too sure how they fared through that icy snap that got us here.

I think you'll have to go to North Georgia to get apples; the winters around the Atlanta area aren't consistently cold enough to make apples worthwhile. In north GA the elevation helps a lot and as others have said, you can get apples in Ellijay. I think Rabun County might have orchards too.

We're talking about a day trip (full day though) from Peachtree City.

I don't know what freeways you will be traveling on, but I go every year to buy apples from Jaemor Farms. They are right off the freeway. Here is a link about the apple stuff, if that helps.

We haven't gone yet this year, as normally I go more a bit later. They have other foods also and I make a run out there a few times a year.
I don't know about a place closer to Atlanta, but there may be some. We are up in the northeast part of Georgia and Jaemor Farms is about 20-25 minutes south of us.

By the way, that link looks like I'm affiliated or referring them or something, but I'm not.
I just go out there sometimes and buy produce! lol

2Story:
I just called Anderson Orchards in Mooresville, Indiana. Yes, they did lose 75% of their crop, there is very little left to pick, primarily golden delicious, but they do have a good selection in the apple barn that they have already picked. They are $24 bushel for the following varieties.

golden delicious
turley winesap
jonathan
mutsu
scarlet beauty
granny smith
red delicious just in case you don't have much luck in GA

Good luck with some of the links above. North Georgia got hit with a late freeze this year too, and it killed most of the fruit blooms (and even the acorn crop is non-existent). I'm just west and north of Atlanta, and in most years, we have a good crop, but not this year.

There were some early apples up here but I think most of the late apples were hit with the late freeze. I have seen a few on the roadside stands.I live in NE GA and all my Oct.Apples were hit,not to mention the peachs. It'll still make a nice drive though and I don't know how NW GA fared in the late freeze. The leaves will be beautiful in a week or so.
