Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

What is it with folks? A young lady call 3 times last Tuesday, she and her husband wanted to buy Dexter cattle. She asked at least a hundred questions, some more than once; I spent an hour on the phone with her.

She insisted on coming this afternoon, DH works six 10 hr days per week, today was the only time they could make it, "we are going to bring the trailer, blah, blah, blah. Today really didn't suit me but I agreed to it in order to accommodate them.

I hurried around after we got home got the herd up and sorted off what they said they were interested in, some young cows and heifers, and pulled the papers on them.

To make certain everything was in order I ran them through the chute checked to make sure their tattoos matched reg. papers, etc. I was hot, dirty and tired but I had the cattle sorted, checked and penned. Everything was ready, just as I assured them it would be, waiting for them to arrive.

They just called, less than 1/2 hour before they were due to be here, " uh, I guess we won't be able to make it today, maybe some other time”. No explanation, nothing. My first guess would be they found some cheaper.

It's a good thing my DW answered the phone instead of me. I doubt I would have been as nice as she was. Oh well I guess I should be glad they called at all and didn't leave me waiting all afternoon. Excuse me; I'm off to have my second shower today and cool off, literally and figuratively

That was pretty rude. I would have been upset too.

You are lucky they called to let you know they wouldn't make it. We sold dogs in the past, and I would say that at least 50% of the people that would make an appointment to come see the pups would not show up. No calls, they just wouldn't show up. We got to where we wouldn't make an appointment without first getting a phone number; we would call a couple hours before to make sure they were coming.

a nice non refundable deposit would stop that in the first 5 min of the conversation.

I'll second that. I have sold several RVs and other vehicles in the past couple of years. I sell stuff that is in top notch condition and properly priced. Typically, the first person that actually shows up ends up buying it. HOWEVER, this usually means that I have wasted several hours talking to two, three, or more people that are sure that they will want it, and make appointments they don't keep. I don't know the solution. I have taken phone #s and even that doesn't work every time. It's frustrating, but unavoidable if you want to sell to the public.

It is something you have to put up with, but it really says something about our society, that 50% of the population is so rude as to skip an appointment without calling.

Had this happen with some lambs I was trying to sell.

Ran into a couple do gooders on craigslist who wanted pet sheep for petting zoos and nativity scenes.

I courted one lady over email for like two months, gave advice about sheep to be nice. Gave a smokin' price too (3 wethers for $200.....anybody want some?)

I halter trained them so they were friendly on agreement that to butcher pet quality is cruel. I didn't force a deposit.

Then all of the sudden theyw ere too busy and kept changing pick up dates. It got ridiculous. I mean heck, I was selling them at a huge discount to make more room and was feeding/holding them when could have sold elsewhere.

Moral of this story: I'm a sucker, one born every minute. NEVER use craigslist or take people on their word. This happens all the time, especially with craigslist.

Thank goodness for slaughter auctions, without that farmers would go broke and city folk would starve.

I never give directions to my house unless they are on their way, and sell to the first person who comes with cash.
I don't have a lot of sorting and prep work to do, though. My goats are not registered, and they come when I call them.

I am in the t-shirt silk screening business, and am so sick of dealing with some people.

I have bent over backwards getting an impossible order completed for a customer last week, and now she EXPECTS the same service on her RUSH order today.

I am so sick of dealing with this woman!!!!!!!

I am seriously thinking about FIRING her tomarrow when she pays me for the order I am delivering!!!!!

Clove
