Looking for home based internet work
Any one have any suggestions? I've been self employed for about 15 years in construction....I'm just sick of it. Looking for something to do just to pay the few bills I have. Well ya know feed bills and the like. Been looking on the net for a couple of days for home based business but looks like a bunch of scams.

They mostly are all scams. After all, you are one of the approximately 200 million people in this country who would like to work at home on the internet.
If you really have only a few bills, look into ebay and amazon.
ebay - look for an auction for a lot (500+) of postcards, preferably described with something like "Town Views" and preferably what they call "RP" or "Real Photo" postcards. You are looking for pictures of the town common war memorial in East Nowhere, TN, and the like. Scan each card individually and put them up as separate auctions. This is work, real work. And it won't pay well (maybe $10 an hour if you get FAST at putting up auctions). But it is very low risk and will bring in money.
You DON'T want tourist postcards, or pictures of people, etc. Something like these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/US-STATE-TOWN-VI...QQcmdZViewItem
Used book sales on Amazon, same deal. You can make $100 a week pretty easily. Any more than that, and the logistical work of packing and shipping gets to be a real drag. Might as well work as an order picker/packer in a warehouse.

If you have language skills, we are always looking for more freelance translators and editors. Try www.proz.com
If you are willing to put in some training, medical transcription pays well and can be done from home. My SIL has been doing it for about two years now, says it's boring as all get out but the money is good.
Good luck finding something!

You could always start your own blog on ???? subject and place google ads, etc... on it. Probably won't make you lots of $$$ but it might bring in some.

Yep, I need a new job too! I've been trying to be a electrical contractor for about a year now and I'm about fed up with customers who don't want to pay for work they got done! The hassle of billing them, phone calls to them, and driving to their house to collect payments is eating my time up and salary up.
Like my work and wished I had enough work to hire Journmymens and apprentices but the hassle of collecting money is really putting a damper on my mind.

r.h. It's easy to collect. If they don't pay put a contractors lean on their home (that will usually wake them up, they won't be able to refinance, sell, or get a home equity loan). If that doesn't work turn it over to a collection agency if it is a fairly new debt you will get around 75% of the collected amount, the older the debt the less they pay.

I have said it here before, if you have a skill that someone else might need, go to www.guru.com. You can bid on jobs. I have used it to get jobs done, I hired the following jobs:
Business Logo
Business Letterhead
Business Card Design
Legaleeze for business
Website user interface design
Post card design
I am not artistic at all, so if I need something artistic done, I go to guru.com. Many other people go there for other skills.

I did not read all the replies.
I worked from home for West. I no longer have the website, but they are for real. You answer calls for all the crap they sell on tv, or for HSN (I liked that one) or a variety of other places.
Willow is another one, though you have to pay for your training. I was doing it,but had to move where there is no high speed internet and I had to quit it all.
Some work at home jobs are legit.

The 2 places that I have worked for online are...
www.liveops.com
and
www.workingsolutions.com
Both are inbound customer service/ order taking... when you see infomercials on TV that say "live operators standing by now to take your call" thats these companies. You must have a dedicated phone line for them to route calls too and high speed internet.

Airline reservation agent, I know the airline I work for has agents working from home. Also, if you're really good with pc's you can set up a server and sell hosting and website design

Ritchie C:
I don't get it? I went and looked at that post card, but why would someone want 250 post cards of the same thing and how can it be worth only $26 to scan/ print and mail 250 post cards? What did I miss?
Thanks.

You buy the postcards (which are not all of the same thing).
You get a box in th mail with 250 post cards.
You scan them, and individually list them in 250 separate ebay auctions.
People buy them, you pack and ship them.

I better go look at EBay sometime. I cannot imagine this one. Who buys post cards off a web site and why? Are they old cards? And how can you make money from it if you have to scan every card? My scanner can take up to 8 mins. for a 6 sleeve negative? I'll go take a look to understand this one. Thank you.
