What if I just buy it myself to keep for a part time home?

Nice, I like that...... Just think in cali you can barely get a 3 br average home in a subdivision for that price and here in Fl you can get something oceanfront for about that.

What area is that in? That is awful high priced real estate in this area. And we are in a high income area

Northern Virginia, I don't think it's overpriced for that area.

Thanks ellebeaux. I know it is different everywhere. Believe me even though real estate is high everywhere, even where it is the lowest that will get you somewhere else. Around here they hit you with extremely high school taxes.

Nah. For that money you can buy 150 acres in Missouri and a nice mobile home to put on it. To me land is more important than house. Besides, any ad that says.... "3 miles to the country club" is marketing to the lah-de-dah type and you can bet the house is way overpriced so as to catch the totally clueless.

Only 12 acres? Nah, not interested. LOL.

I've seen better places around here for half that price.
I'm sure it would suit your dream 'imaginary homestead' for sure. Go finish your schooling, marry a rich fellow there, get a high fallootin teaching position and you're all set! LOL.
