New boy on the block

Hi,
I have been hangin around here for a little while now. Didn't see any formal section to introduce myself so I thought I would do it here.
My family and I live in the Mountain West. We stand a donkey Jack to outside mares as well as raising some of our own mules each year.
I have been a traditional Blacksmith for 20 + years, reproducing artifacts in museums as well as doing any kind of house sundrie work.
Just as many of you the world is cropping up all around us. We are doing our best to keep our family together and safe amongst the growing population.
I come hoping to learn from all of you as well as share what I have to offer.

Wecome to Homesteading Today, glad to have you.

On my list of most favorite farm animals is the mule. Had not an iota of experience or knowledge on mules until Husband took me to Ozarks' Mule and Donkey Days, it was my first experience at love at first sight.

Perhaps you will either convince me to take the leap and become a mule owner, or you will convince me that me and mules ownership is not going to be good for neither I nor the mule

Mamahen,
We keep 7 QH, 1 App, and 3 Belgain mares.
This spring will be the first babies for the big mares. We have 8 babies coming in the spring.
I build alot of different items in our shop. ie; Branding irons, bits, spurs, bathroom towel racks, hinges, gates, railings and light fixtures. I also repair artifacts as well as building replicas for display in museums. I kind of take a "Just do it" attitude toward most things.
As I am able, I will share some photos of my work and our animals.
MarleneS,
The cheapest thing that you do is buy the mule. The real cost comes in the care and the fact that you can't own just 1. They are kind of adicting.
Get an older, well broke one to begin with because mule ownership can't be a casual thing and be sucessful. An older animal will teach you alot.
