anybody familier Sulfer/Cameron/Lake Charles La area?

My hubby just found out he will be working for the next 16 months in Hackberry Louisiana in a new chemical plant they are building.

The problem is.... we need to find a place for him to stay.
anybody know the area where we can find a decent price furnished apt? Or a travel trailer for rent? or something that wont cost a mint?

I just don't know where to look...

anywhere within a 30-45 min drive would be fine.

thanks!

I live on the other end of I-10 from there. Wish I could help. I know the Hackberry area was destroyed by Hurricane Rita in Sept 05 so he'll likely have to look in the Sulfur area. One other bit of info may be to contact some of the marinas in Hackberry that are getting back together after the storm to see if they have RV pads for long term rent. Hackberry Rod and Gun club, Spicer's Bait and Tackle, and Calcasieu Charters comes to mind. Also, Bayou Charter Service has a lodge that will hold 11 if he's not against rooming with someone.

Wish I could help more.

It is the best place in the UNIVERSE! I am sooooooo envious! I would dearly love to live there, but alas, I am toooooo deeply stuck in the Missouri mud to relocate at my age. But honey, if I could, that is smack-dab where it would be! I haven't been back since Hurricane Rita, I'm sure it's different now, but of course the people are the same - awesome!

In SW Louisiana, IT'S ALLLLL GOOD! I'd pick Lake Charles, myself, but it's a long way to drive every day. Nothing wrong with Sulfer, as I recall, either.

I lived about 70 miles west of there and went there regular.

Pretty decent place if you stay out of the cities and out in the country.

I envy him the food of that area. Boudin, gumbo, crab cakes!

Have you husband get the word out that he needs a place to stay with the locals working at the plant. He might get lucking and get the use of someone's fishing/hunting camp. Also tell him, if he advised to evacuate for a hurricane to take the advise seriously.

Hugs,
Marlene
