a little mental exercise.

you have 10 to 12 acres, you need to have a house, and orchard (small) barn, garden, a horse and chickens. what other animals can be fit onto this small acerage.

creative thinking is a big part of this exercise.

so lets hear what your thoughts are.

thanks

Plant mulberry trees and grow your own silkworms.

ok so the horse is a luxuery (sp?) but i do envision using the horse for hauling wood, and for transport in the event of SHTF. plus i just love horses and i really cant think of having a farm with out one

gotta have pigs. yup. turn up the garden in the fall. buy at $40, sell for a LOT more a few months later. they eat everything.

I'd say turkeys.
goats to clear land, milk, make soap from milk. make cheese from milk. (and they're entertaining)

rabbits. they don't take up a lot of room. they're good to eat. angora types are good fiber to sell. and they breed like, er, rabbits.
