Sheep Barn Plans

Today I completed an accurate inventory of all of the sheet metal roofing I have accumulated and I have over 2000 sq ft available to build and roof a new and much more luxurious (??) sheep barn. I am thinking in the neighborhood of 40 by 50. Found these plans.

Remember that 2000 feet will not roof a 40x50 building. Did you figure in enough for any walls? Corners? Trim? Peaks (Gable Ends)?, Ridge cap? I'm in the middle (ok, I'm about 85% done with the building, then some dirtwork) of a 40x60 barn with 95% salvage materials. Just throwing things out there! I know I scrounged for 4 years to get materials, so I was VERY glad to get started. What are you using for frame? I used treated poles (I got 26 of them for free), double 2x8 beams, and pallets for walls. I did buy new 2x4s for nailers on the roof.
Good Luck!

I know I will have to get a little more for the barn roof. I plan to have the barn have a peaked roof 8 ft at the sides and about 12 feet in the center. I have no need to worry about snow load here so the pitch doesn't have to be more than enough to shed water which I plan to catch with gutters to use for watering stock. I use rainwater in the house for everything and there is no reason the critters shouldn't have good water too. I also probably will keep most of the side walls to a minimum too. Internally I will build windbreaks and half walls, but our area really has minimal cold weather and I raise wool sheep. The coldest night I have ever seen here was 9 Degrees F. We usually only get 10-15 nights in the 20's or lower in a normal winter.

I have about 50-60 14 ft treated poles that have no home yet for the upright structure. I'll need some of these for fencing, but will have plenty for a barn leftover.
