Pay Blogs, Forums And Other Sites.

Ive heard of Blog sites where you are paid for each time someone clicks on your writing. Are there Forums where you are paid for thread clicks like that? How about some where You could put a book on line and be paid that way? Maybe even write it a chapter at a time? What do you guys think the best of each of these kind of sites are?

I run a site (see my sig line) that pays 99% of adsense revenue to contributors. This generally amounts to pocket change per article, but I'm hoping this will improve as the site grows. My site is focused on SF fandom & the entertainment industry (media news, NOT gossip).

For the most part, pay-to-blog sites pay very little simply because advertising doesn't pay much on the 'net either. There are some exceptions to the rule, however -- about.com comes to mind. Absolutewrite.com has good information on who pays well and who doesn't and who's a scam.

I think the way to make money is to get your own domain. Start up your website, and get to blogging. IF you have a brilliant mind (or, one that resides in the gutter ), and can spin the words, and get a following, say a couple hundred thousand 'eyes' coming by regularly, You can get paid advertisers to pay you for face time on your site. Go to sites like Michelle Malkins or the Daily Kos. Those guys are making a very good living.

True a domain would be good if I was Stephen King but other wise Id think it would be the difference between a bookstore and a store in a small town with just one book for sale.

Do people really click on those adsense advertisements? I see them on nearly every website I visit and I have never clicked on one. Mainly because I don't buy much! LOL.

I have considered a blog, but I just don't have much to say (Yeah, I know, almost 4,000 posts on HT would contradict that statement!) Well, let's say I don't have much to say to the average non-homesteading type of person.

Yup, they do, but it won't make a person rich.

My adsense ads made $9 in August and a little over $5 so far in September. I figure if the site can ever pay for itself (domain name and site hosting) I'll be a happy camper.

Yes, people click on ads. In particular, Adsense shows movie trailers on my site and those tend to bring in quite a few clicks. I can pretty much always tell when there are trailers on the site for popular upcoming movies ... ad revenue jumps, sometimes dramatically.

Huh. I have wondered about this.
So I just went to one of your blogs. Where are the ads? Are they the news links in the right column?
Nice idea, btw. I've subscribed with Bloglines to your Homesteading recipes and Christmas cookie recipe blogs. Hey, there is something else to look forward to.. Christmas cookies!

The way to make money on a blog/website is to get into affilliate programs.
As an example, if your a techno geek and have a blog that reviews the latest program or techno toy. Within that review you place a link to view said program/toy and it opens to say "Best Buy", if your an affilliate of Best Buy, anyone who buys that program/toy or anything off of that link gets you a commission for that sale. If it's a big ticket item and you get enough people buying it, you can make a nice buck. The more traffic you can generate to your blog and use that link, the more money you can make.

Most major websites have a "Become an Affilliate" somwhere on thier front page for you to sign up.

This goes for anything your talking about on your blog, if it's books, join Amazon.com affilliate program, and books sold thru your link makes you money. This is what the big kids are doing.

Here's a small list of affilliate programs...............
