vinyl siding

Does anyone use a sealer or something else on vinyl siding? I have white siding that is 11 years old and it seems that insect poo just sticks to the siding. Seems when it was new when it rained it washed right off. I power wash and within days I have all the little black specs showing up again.

I remember someone stating they used Son Of A Gun made by STP but can't find it in the archives. Anyway I called STP and they said they would not not recommend their product because it is water based and would eventually wash off and leave a powdery film.

Any suggestions???

Those little black specks are mildew. Use a water/bleach mixture to take of the problem until next year when you'll have to do it all over again.

Speak to any truck-driver and ask about what they use to clean their trucks. It'll work brilliantly on vinyl siding. A truckie I once knew used to spray on the truckwash, neat, with a back-pack pump-action sprayer (the sort you use in your garden), leave it on for 10-15 minutes or so, then just hose it off. Bugs, mud, grease etc just vanished.

I'm in Australia, so brands will be different, but this is one such product.

I'm looking for something to put on the siding after I power wash. When the siding was new it seems that the mildew and insect doo washed off after a rain. Now it sticks right after power washing. Power washed yesterday on the south side of the garage. It was sunny yesterday and today but the tell tale signs of doo are already appearing. The solution I used was 3 quarts bleach to 1 quart jomax. I put this in a container and used this in the power washer. I know it is a strong solution (I can still smell the bleach on my hands). There must be some type of protectant on the siding when it is made and after 11 years I guess it has degraded. Anyone have any suggestions for revitalizing the siding?
