Unforseen consequences

Some of this has been reported before as the difference between standard farming and organic farming. Now it can be seen as a more widespread consequence of our desire to increase yield per acre. I think it will be a big boost to the growers/preservers of heritage crops.

As I see it----

As I see it faster grown less nutritional produce is a trade off. People are more willing to buy and eat produce that is a tad cheaper (even if less nutritional) than not eating it at all. I think it is far better that they eat even less nutritional produce than none or little.

Its not a matter of people choosing less nutritional food, the problem is that lower nutrition seems to be an unforeseen consequence of breeding for increased production. The problem is worldwide and is happening in both conventional and organic farming.
