local tv station is going to cover our barn restoration!
We're closing on our 1890 farmstead outside of Madison next month... and have lined up a reputable barn restorer to begin restoration 2 days after we close. There was a very good probability the bank foundation wall of the barn would cave in early in the winter and the whole thing is leaning to a scary degree - can't have that with little kids around let alone livestock. So the plan has always been to begin stabilization and proper restoration asap.
The guy doing the restoration work called this morning - the local NBC affiliate wants to do a full story about saving old barns - and they are going to use our barn/restoration job for the feature! We'll have a full tv crew out to document the beginning/middle and completion of the work.
How cool is that! Might even help us qualify for restoration status for future projects, like saving the spring house. I love the idea of promoting barn restoration. Ours is from 1890 and features hand-hewed timbers.
Just had to share!
