WEATHER VANE questions

I would like to make a copper weather vane for my small barn. Although it would be cheaper to just buy one, I want to make it. Has anyone here ever done that before? I found a source to buy the copper roll but I have not been able to find a website that explains how to make the weather vane.
Curious too...what are the figures on your vane?...horse, pig, rooster??

Mine is a cow that I silicone glued those copper scrubbie pads to to make it look like a sheep. I got my vane on Ebay for far less than you can ever expect to make one for.

I do NOT know about weather veins. I just remember what My great Grand mother would remind us when we took her out in the car. She knew who's veins were grounded. She was adimint about this. I mean to the point to get out of the car and ask the guy if she thought she was wrong.

She also had this set in her heart some way. She tried to make sure that any one that would listen. If the weather vein was not GROUNDED to a earth ground like a 4-6 foot pole in the ground it would not be right. She would ALWAYS bring this up.

I HAVE NO idea if this works. I just know she trusted only folks veins that were done right. She knew for some resone how the read the weather just right. Many times it was right on.

Maybe someone else knows about this?

I have done some simple study on grounding as when we purchased this house it NEVER had any electric in it. Then we has lightning rods and roof rods to deal with. Those had to come off with adding electricity.

This was a small learning explerance as we upgraded the home with electricity, phone and cable. The ground was the MOST important part. 6 robs were put in 2 for each one. The phone, cable and electric. Once Fider T-1 lines were intoduced they said we did not have to ground the application as the PHONE poles were grounded. MOST ARE.

To bad we paid the 26 bucks pounded down the rods and wired them up. WE NEVER have a problem. This old store is all old block. Even our gen set has 4 groud rods in the ground.
