Whats on your fall "to do" list??
It is supposed to finally drop to highs in the mid seventies next week I can't wait. I love fall and working outside in the cooler weather. So far this is my list:
Dig remaining potatoes & store
Clean chicken coop, till waste into garden
Enclose duck pen
Make "tunnels" on the outside of chicken doors on coop (prevent blowing rain & wind coming in when doors are not shut)
Put up fence going from back of barn to neighbors side fence (keeping chickens out of their yard when free ranging)
Build holding unit in barn for raw gourds
Clean out my workshop, organize woodworking tools.
Dig and build burning pit for bonfires. (having a gathering in Oct)
Stock up on feed & straw
Clean gutters
I know there is so much more than I am just not thinking of. Its a start anyway.
Whats on your list?

Great thread idea! I'm going to be a tad specific so that I can direct dh here when the time comes
1. Take down ancient, huge, fishbone-looking antennae from roof
2. Remove ugly awnings from side and rear of house
3. Clean gutters
4. Finish goat barn and fencing
5. Clean chicken coop for winter
6. Sheet compost the garden
7. Cut down the two dying trees in the front yard
8. Clean out garage - it's disgusting from housing the critter feed and hay while the barn's being built
9. Paint barn - red with white trim
10. Paint porch - white with red door
11. Revamp chicken fence and trim flight feathers
Jeepers... We'd better get our butts in gear!

My fall to-do list consists of: continue working on my stone retaining wall, do inside trim around the windows and doors, work up the garden and harvest the vegetables, bring in another load of manure, refinish the pine cabinet, cut firewood for next year, clean chimney, oh and finish my cold storage room. I'm sure there are more I could think a bit more about it, but that's all I can come up with for now. It's supposd to cool down here next week in Ontario. Chris

Make green tomato relish.
Get the chimney cleaned.
Clean up the place. All those little piles of junk that accumulate around a homestead in the Summer months.
clean flower beds in the bluff area and then clean the wiener roast pit area because we are inviting Friends, some old, some new and some c0-workers to our house for our annual wiener roast on October 13th.
Try it! NOTHING, AND I MEAN NOTHING WILL GET YOU MOTIVATED MORE THAN HAVING THE BIG WIGS WHERE YOU WORK COMMING TO YOUR PLACE.
In my case it is a bank that I am now retired from but they all still want the wiener roasts to continue.
I do it every year so we go into Winter with a nice -----N-span homestead all ready to accumulate Winter junk.
Then the 26,27 and 28th we are having DH's Family reunion here.

I've put off retyping my list the last 3 nights, I suppose that will be the next task. Off this weekend, a 3 dayer, so I'll be setting posts no doubt. Mercy, more work than time to do it.

Clean out and organize house.
Take stuff removed from house and sell it at my mom's annual community yard sale.
Make baby quilt for new grandson due in Nov.
Clean out and do repairs on barn.
Finish fencing in back pasture.
Plant Fall garden (starting that tomorrow).
Buy two goats and more chickens and/or ducks.
Cut and stack firewood.
Build more raised beds in garden.
Start a cold frame in garden.
Refinish antique dresser and bookcase for new grandson's nursery.
Oh, I could go on and on and on. There's so much to do. Makes me wonder why I'm sitting here on the computer!
Thought of a couple more...
Dig sweet potatoes
Pull up peanuts

We're on a new (to us) homestead of 23 ac with an original 1928 farmhouse. House has newer roof and replacement windows, Thank Heaven. Place is generally in good shape with a large barn and two good outbuildings - but we've been cleaning up trashy stuff, and organizing decent materials left behind in the buildings.
Get two goats for eating brush
Get two feeder pigs
Finish converting one outbuilding to chicken coupe/garden tool shed
Finish planting fall garden (started last weekend)
Paint cabinets and lay new floor in kitchen so we can put cookstove in there (has existing chimney) for winter
Firewood, firewood, firewood!
Continue moving perennials from previous home (and get that place sold!)
Continue moving belongings from previous home and trying to remain organized as we go
Get prepared for the holiday season so it's not a big rush and we can enjoy it
Our list is actually longer but I'm afraid to see it all at once

Fence, fence fence! Trying to stretch the grass as long as possible so the hay will last. It's been a bad year.
Stack wood.
Plant a fall garden. At least some peas.
Finish the rabbitry.

Finish stacking the wood
clean the chimney
tidy the yard
mulch the garden
can some tomatoes if they ever turn red
clean and store the tools
prune the fruit trees
