Would You do it?

I found a 89 S-10 pickup, 4 wheel drive, for $350. The lady says the 4 wheel drive works just fine, the body is worn and a little rusty, and it needs a good tune up on it and a new windshield, because it is cracked. We just need a good truck in case it snows so my hubby can get to work, and to haul wood/get in and out of the woods with it.

Would you buy it? I'm thinking I will, because I feel it wouldn't take much money to get it fixed up decently, and we would then have a good work truck.

This is exactly the type of truck we keep our eyes peeled for all the time! I would jump all over it. However, we are just looking for a farm vehicle - not insured, not used on the road. If you want to drive it, maybe you could spend a few more $$ and have a mechanic give it a quick once-over.

I know!

I keep thinking I'm just going to go out there and do it, because my husband doesn't get off work until 4, and I'm afraid it will be gone by the time we get there. He wants to look it over, but I'm thinking-$350! And I have it in my purse right now! It's killing me. It'll be a long time before something like this comes along again.

What to do?

You'll probably be able to unload it for $500 if your husband finds something wrong with it.

Go For It! lol

If all my bills were paid this month and plenty of food in the pantry, if I had the money left over and it wouldn't kill the budget, sure I'd buy it.

I'd buy it, too. We have a '93 S-10 4 wheel drive with over 304,000 miles on it. Over the years all we've had to do outside of regular maintainance is put in a new fuel pump and starter, not bad for that many miles. It's not a pretty truck, but it just keeps on going and going and going....

I want to, but hubby said to wait until he gets off. I have a feeling it isn't going to be there by then.

I may have to whack him.

BUt

Do you the people you're buyin from>?

good folk or don't really no ems..
Either beware 350 is 350 let your ol man look it over first.
Some folks will sell anything thinking oh they have the money .. or some other lame excuse, and take your money. Done that been there by folks ud' think knew better. Anyway if it is that hot a deal, why's it soo hot today and not yesterday. the pressure of the sale is oftern a "tell" on a salemens' part.

just thorwing my 2 cents in..
maybe hubby has other ideas? might not care for chevy's? Never now he might have soem deall in the works he's waitin on the $$$ for... never know.
better check first

But Yes I would buy it for a farm veheicle, in fact I am looking for a 350 ford of the early 70's but I want the cummings deisel version Hd 350. not the pretty version either. better not have a coat of paint other than the original , with flat black being the exception..

I used to have an ol 1942 Harley FLat head that got moore turned heads at sows and the like that any of the money shot cycles had. Respect for the owner too, no pics without asking first either.. but that was back then, when men weren't afraid to say they were men. now MEN is a four letter word if you go buy the outsiders point of view. Wish I had that ol lady right now, would make for sme quick stress relief for sure..
excuse me while I dream of vesteryear..and days best gone on by... for she was a mean which to kick start on a cold morning in the North east.

We just bought a '94 Chevy S-10 pickup. $300.00. The front end is a little banged up and it needs body work but it runs like a top.

$350 is scrap value. Buy it. As a last resort, the recycler would give you your money back on it. How can you lose?

Windshield cost

What is the cost for a replacement windshield? I would consider that as it will be at your total cost.

Does your husband have email? He needs us to him! Ha ha ha!

I hope his caution isn't your loss. I am betting your intuition is better than he (and you??) gives you credit for.

Let us know how things go.

Well, what a disappointment.

I drove 45 miles round trip, and sat there waiting 1.5 hours for her to show up. Yes, I did make an appointment. I called her cell phone 5 times and she never answered it, though I talked to her over 20 minutes this morning about the truck and to set up a time to meet.

Yes, I'm a little steamed, and I have a very disappointed husband.
