Hey! Congrats. I would join in the dance but I am from Caintuck too and I didn't get nothin'. Our thermometer read 106 today! Officially, I think it was 103-105.

We finally got some rain today, too! Well, this evening actually. We have had 2 storms roll through here in the last few hours. I have some trees down in the driveway. The power flickered off, but came right back on. We need the rain, bad. My garden is shriveling up. Most surrounding towns have been put on water restrictions.

I'm jealous! We had a strom yesterday too but little rain, too much wind and nickel sized hail. It's so dry here, even the weeds are burned up.

I'll do the wiggly butt dance with ya. Yippeee for you! We got some rain to save us a few days ago, just a tad bit yesterday. I know how wonderful even a few minutes of rain is this year in dry Kentucky. We need 3 weeks of rain at this point.....hoping for a tropical depression, com'mon ERIN & DEAN....

...then we can do the wiggly butt dance out in the rain splashing puddles with our feet!

I'm amazed! And amused!

We got rain too.... MAYBE a quarter inch. Pfft.

We had two storms yesterday. One to the north and one to the South. I could hear the thunder to the north and I could see the thunderhead to the south..... but nary a drop will fall on me. I even went a brought the laundry in and sat and waited.. I was almost wiggly butting in anticipation. But only kicked up a breeze as they went past.
Congrats Farmer Willy. I feel your joy and am happy for you. My day will come and I will probably go lay down in the yard and weep with joy.

Truth be told don't take much for me and the Mrs. to break out in a spontaneous wiggly butt dance. Chicks hatching, a family member finding a job (DIL this past Wends.), getting the truck/car/mower/you name it fixed and running again. Mercy, even getting two days off work in a row is worthy. Hey, lifes too short to miss out on a good wiggly butt dance moment. This morning it was while pushing a wheelbarrow full of new dug potatos.
Yippie!!!
Drying taters
Canning taters
Frying taters
Mashed pertaters
Baked up taters
Home fried taters
Scalloped taters
Come on now maters
Don't just sit there ya'll...got to be something worth dancing about wherever you are.

Geeez, is it ever wet in No. Illinois. We are in a band of rain that extends from No. Nebraska all the way into New York state.
We don't need anymore rain!!!!!!!!!

Have had 0=zero-zilt-nadda-not a drop in over 5 weeks! I have quit watering anything. Washing only what HAS to be washed, dishes once at bedtime. Freezing milk jugs of water to place in the water buckets. to keep from pouring out the animals water and giving them fresh/cool water. (KNOCK on wood) but we have never had well problems but I don't remember that we haven't had 6 weeks w/o a drop of rain. Our grass/pastures are crunchy. Haven't mowed in two months. So, I would like everyone to send good wishes, prayers, rainy thoughts --what ever you can spare to Queen Bee for about 2" of rain over a couple days... Now, don't get to over zealous and send a flood or anything like that...

Sorry for those that are flooding--what's the old saying everything or nothing?? :

Hey Farmer Willy, sure glad you got some rain! My part of KY hasn't seen rain in three weeks or over. Its so dry that the weeds are wilted. I'd gladly do a wiggley-but dance over a couple hours of rain drops. LOL

We got rain too!..........AAAARRRGGGGHHHH!

Our land was flooded for a month, but it dried out over the past three weeks, and I managed to restore 10 of the vege garden beds. Now it's pouring again, and we've received warnings for flash-floods in our area.

The local council decided to give us a proper road, so dug up and leveled the old track, with plans to seal it before the month's end. With this rain, it's now a bog - going to cost them a heap more to fix it now!
