Poison Ivy, Poison What??

Hi Y'all,
I do Not get Poison Ivy rash or blisters, unless I pull down the big vines.
And, if I get the sap directly from the Vines, on me, but don't wash it off right away, I get a welt, where the sap is. But here is the Question......

I know about Poison Ivy vines.............
"Leaves of Three, Leave it Be,
Because It's Poison Ivy!"

Well, but what are the Vines with Five(5) Leaves, that I
see growing on trees rocks & things.
Are these Poison Vines of some sort? Do they bother most Folks?
They don't bother me at all. Will they be bothersome for the
D Grandkids?

Thanks, for any answers.

Most likely Virginia Creeper. And though it has some similiar habits, like the way the leaves are droopy a bit, it won't hurt you. It is a bit invasive, but very pretty in the fall. Scarlet leaves.

Worse thing it will do, is kill the tree its on, in time. We've lost some beautiful oaks, from this parasite vine. We call it English Ivy, 'round here. same thing.

English Ivy and Virginia Creeper are totally different plants. The English Ivy grows much thicker and can harm trees, but Virginia Creeper is harmless

"Leaves of three...let it be,
Leaves of five...let it thrive."

Leaves of five are Virginia creeper, you'd be surprised at the folks that think that is poison ivy though.

Virginia creeper can endanger trees if it gets too thick.
