Gated Irrigation Pipe--What did I see?

The other day I went by a field that was using gated irrigation pipe or tubing.

The pipe intrigued me so I stopped for a closer look. It was probably 10 to 12 inches in diameter and was a soft sided pipe/tubing that could have been rolled up when empty of water. It reminded me of some sort of thick Tyvek like product or a soft flexible PVC material.

I've not heard of such irrigation pipe/tubing before. What was it made of? What sizes are available, etc.

Thanks.

Take a look at this discharge hose.

Its the type you put on a gas driven water pump. 3/4" to 16" diameter. Up to 300' continuous length.

Interesting

That's interesting stuff. What I saw was white and didn't have any reinforcing fiber in it. Otherwise quite similar say.

With the gates in it I think what I saw would be tough to roll up easily.

Thanks.
