duct tape awards

my daughter has been at camp for the last 2 weeks as a leader in training. came home for her little brothers birthday this weekend and told us about camp. seems there are cracks in the claboard walls of the cabin that let skitters in, she came prepared and taped over all the cracks in the walls!! theirs was the only bug free cabin, will be interesting too see how many leaders show up with duct tape today (first day of the new camp session) her motto? don't leave home without it!! :baby04:
so, whats your nominations for duct tape award of the year? :baby04:

Local dairy farmer patched up a torn milk vein on the udder/quarter of a cow.

Local cow Vet said it was the best duct tape patch job he'd ever seen.

Guess Doc sees it all the time.... :baby04:

Years ago I was stranded out on a highway in the middle of nowhere with a ruptured radiator hose. All I had handy was an empty aluminum softdrink can and a roll of duct tape. I cut the ends off the can and cut it lengthwise to place over the hole in the radiator hose, duct taped it real good and filled the radiator with creek water and it got me to the next town some 30 miles up the road. I think half of what I own is held together with duct tape. : )

A couple of years ago, I bought a used screen tent. When we opened it up we discovered some holes in the roof and sides. Took the duct tape and patched the holes from both sides. Looked goofy, but kept the bugs and rain out!

I TOLD ya duct tape is good stuff!

Smart DD you got there, FordMajor.

I've patched holes in screens with the stuff, attached a drainage pipe to a downspout with it, but the latest and greatest is this:

I used duct tape (Neon Pink) to attach a length of PVC pipe across this buckling's horns so he'd stop getting his head stuck in the fence.

it was a sunday and one of our geese got its wing caught in something and broke it fixed it up with some duck tape, till the next day when i got him to the vet to have it looked at, vet thought it was a great job and we retaped it and his wing healed up just fine.
(if it cant be fixed by duck tape it cant be fixed at all)

We use duct tape on the ends of our one goat as he likes to play and push. The tape on them now has lasted over a year. We had even bougt little wooden balls to drill holes in and super glue them on, but the duct tape works so well the balls are in the closet for future use. Every one needs at least 2 rolls of good duct tape around. Sam

Didn't you have any goose tape? I don't think they appreciate that cross-species stuff!

While I was in the USMC, a friend broke his leg out in the "boonies" one Sunday (off duty). There were three of us. We cut several branches and taped them to his leg for a splint. Other then that.....

I have read that Duct Tape is like the Force: It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together!

Around here, we know that the two basic elements are Duct Tape and WD-40: Duct Tape holds the world together, and WD-40 keeps it spinning!

Saw this t-shirt on a kid at the store the other day:

"Silence is Golden.
Duct Tape is Silver."

Don't have duct tape or WD40 on the place. And in the case of WD40 or other silicone based lubes never will have them.

Now, let me tell you about my soon to be published book. "2001 Quick Fixes With a Nylon Cable Tie".

WalMart carries several bright colors of duct tape, and clear as well. I fell for the neon purple and the neon pink.

Exactly!!! One adheres, the other repels. Duct tape and WD-40 are the Yin and Yang of any well equipped tool box.

HAHAHA!! NehiMama!! I just did the same trick to a goat at our house!!! My hubby said he sure hopes the neighbors don't see her or they'll think I'm even crazier than they thought!!!
I saw a bunch of goats at the Amish place done that way, and I made so much fun of it! Then I have this ding dong goat who was getting stuck 3-4 times a day! So she now has a stick and duct tape helmet!
Oh and on the duct tape topic, we have an entire 4 wheeler covered in camo duct tape- multiple layers!
"If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40"

Many years ago when I was working as a fishing guide, I went to the back of the boat to help a client land a fish. As I did, I noticed the boat was riding quite a bit low in the water. I beached the boat on a nearby island. By using the hydraulics on the tilt and trim I was able to see that about a 4 foot piece of one of the chines was missing all the way down to the fiberglass fabric. I pumped the water out applied appropriate amount of duct tape and continued fishing the rest of the day with only an occasional run of the bilge pump. I mentioned to the clients that they could indeed claim that they had been "Ship wrecked on a deserted island".
