Name my dog...and my truck...

Hello all. I'm still here in Wyoming, cooking the same stuff week after week.....it's all getting old, but not my time off

Big Horn National Forest is about 5 miles up the road and whenever I get a couple hours....see ya! It's been fun, but I needed to get a truck (for the dirt roads), a dog (to warn me if anything predatory is about) and a gun (if anything predatory gets confrontational!).

So I got this pup. When I went to look at the litter, she ran right up and said "I'm your dog!!!" She is too. She is totally glued to me all the time. Definite bonding! She's smart and will be a great dog...but she needs a name. She is a papered Australian Shepherd. There are pictures of her here:

http://upload.pbase.com/edit_gallery/jenamartin/puppy

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Then there's this truck. It's a '64 Jeep J-200 truck. It is the exact same shade of baby blue as my puppy's eyes. It is in very good shape, considering it is almost as old as me. I put a deposit on it, but won't get it until this weekend after a friend checks it out for me. It is all original and it all works...right down to the AM radio. I'm diggin the truck, but it is so.....BLUE....and therefore LOUD...that I think it deserves a name too.

I was supposed to buy a beater that I could just sell or junk when I go back home, but there's something about this blue monster that got me thinking.....things I have always said I would do...road trips to Alaska, spending all summer in the desert taking pictures, and basically doing exactly what I set out to do here....build myself the life I always wished I had. I can see that truck (not to mention the dog), fitting right into it.

Sorry if this isn't homesteady enough, but darn...it sure feels good to be freaking HAPPY again

LIFE IS GOOD!

Jena

Cute pup Jena! Maybe you can name her after one of the surrounding landmarks to remind you the time you spent there.

Asker.

Folks will say "What's your dog's name?" You answer, "Asker".....then sit back and see how many folks ask the pup what her name is!!

Jena,

I believe I have the very 2 names you are looking for. Without question you need to name your truck BABE, as in "Babe the Blue Ox"

And after looking at your pups pics, and from what you have spoken about her spirit and temperment so far, I believe you should name her "Sis" it seems to fit your personality as much as hers.

Beautiful dog! And it is nice when happy sneaks up on ya after a long spell gone, ain't it?

I don't know about names, I'd probably go with Sis for the pup too, and we haven't met the truck yet. Where's the pictures?

Hey Jena, glad you are still enjoying your summer and have found a friend to keep you company. Slev has a good idea with Babe and sis though the first thing I thought when I saw that cutie with the blue eyes was "Azure".

Keep us posted and take good care of yourself.

My neighbor has a similar dog, and I love the name, he named her "Pearl" as she was a pearl when he found her.

The Jeep, I will let you name it after you have it a while. I had one, and what I would name it is unfit for mixed company and children.

Good luck,

Bob

HAHA, What a fun thread!
How about TURBO or maybe BUBBA for your truck
and for your puppy (who is lovely by the way) either SAVANNAH or SHELBY.

Be sure and let us know what names you decide on!

Wallace & Gromit. Dog is Wallace, truck is Gromit.

(have you ever seen the cartoon? Dog is Gromit in the cartoon but I think Wallace is classy for a dog. Like Duchess of Windsor was Wallace)

As single woman, I always name the dog something that can protect me in a conversation:

"Sorry, have to go...Butch is waiting for me to fix dinner."

"No, I don't sleep alone.....and Max frowns upon anyone else joining us."
