Plow then...?

I don't have disks or harrows at this time. But I do have a neighbour willing to rototill (tractor driven). Initially tried the rototiller without plowing first, but it didn't go deep enough, it's compact and weedy. Weeds have been cut.

Can you rototill right over plowed land? Thanks.

Certainly your can rototill over plowed ground. I always plow first in order to avoid a lot of wear and tear on the rototiller.

Same here, the better the plowing the better the tilling. I still do the majority of field work with the disc harrows and cultivators after plowing, it's just faster.

I used to work at a forestry nusery. What we did was to disk the ground and then put up beds then run a rototiller. This is the way to get a real good seed bed and get it deep. When you put up beds and they match your tiller you will get another 3 inches deep. The slower you run the tiller the better the job of tiling the ground. We had a tractor that would do less than a walking speed and I used it to make a perfict bed.
