What can eat 12 packs of rat poison?

What could eat that much poison and not die? We have a Cabin in middle of woods, no close neighbors, no dogs around, no cats. We saw mouse poop about a month ago, put out two boxes poison under house, something ate it, we put out more. Now - today we put out boxes #13 & 14! It is regular Decon type poison. What in the world can eat that much and still be there? We see what looks like mouse poop all around the boxes, the boxes are moved around some but still there, something pulled out a big chunk of insulation. We do not see any bodies and we do not smell anything. Are there that many rats/mice in woods to eat that much? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Rat poison is waferin, a blood thinnner. You wont find mouse bodies around the poison. they get sick and go home. Obviously you have a lot of vermin in your area.

You are using the wrong type of poison. Go to the Farm store and get the kind that they only eat once and they die. Decon they have to eat many times and it is a slow poison. I would use the rat poison. You may have field rats and there can be lots of them. Best if you could throw a couple Bull snakes in there. They would also keep out coons etc, which may be eating your poison.

I use bait bars now. Mice and chipmunks used to store the pellets in their various nesting and storage spots. The bars are harder for the little vermin to move so they will eat some of it on the spot.

I use the bar bait too, it works great. I don't even open the package, the mice will chew thru it to get to the bait. I toss a couple packages in the attic every fall. I also use sticky traps, they catch everything, not just mice.

HA! Funny picture and funny too about the Mother-in-Law! Thanks and we will go to Farm store today. We are also having neighbor come over to help boys crawl under there to see if we have......well we must have an opening somewhere......so they are going to check about that too.

Can you SMELL a skunk if it has been under there but not sprayed?

I cringe at the idea that you are asking what it is you are killing with 14 boxes of deacon, or do you truly not care?

I would think you could smell the skunk...they leave behind a faint smell even if they haven't sprayed.

With decon the mice don't smell when they die, I think it dries them up.

Is it possible that it's in pretty packages and you have pack rats?

They might have stashed it somewhere as a pretty additon to their nest...

Get the bait stations and put the poison in there . That way you know you are only killing rats and mice.
