Wherever corn is grown...

Well, we're winding down the sweet corn season down here. Most folks that sold to the public, planted either Silver Queen or Funk's G90, and got around 5 ears/$1.

What's the roadside sweetcorn seller getting for his corn in your neck of the woods?

In Colorado 20 years ago, 3 ears for $1.00 was common for sweet corn. No idea about the price now, but I would suspect that it is the same.

Our season goes from July to October, and the price at the Green Giant factory is about $.25 an ear.

Four to six dollars a dozen depending on quality. Mine won't be ready til late August because of a cold spring.

At least $4/dz.

How can it be profitable otherwise?

here it will not be ready until the end of August, but it sells for 10/$1 or $10/bushel, even the grocery stores are usually 10/$1 once it comes in season, and 6/$1 right now when they have to bring it in.

I would not pay the prices you guys are paying.........

If i find it for 5/$1.00... my sweet corn growing days are over! I don't have room to be playing around with sweetcorn. Not quite ready around here yet.

Any of the se varieties are $5-6/dozen in Southern Kentucky. Silver Queen etc. are a tough sell at $3-4/dozen. Our season will open in 2-3 weeks.

From that thread title, I thought we had an FFA chapter secretary

Sweet corn isn't available up here yet, but usually goes for anywhere from $1.20 to $2.00/dozen.
