Pricing chives

I wasn't sure where to ask this question...so forgive me if this is the wrong place. I just harvested my chives. Way too much for me. I was thinking of calling a local restaurant to see if they would like to buy some. Was going to bundle them, just not sure how much to sell them for. Any ideas?

See what they pay now, for what quality, then adjust. See if they will go for an 10-20% increase for local organic, if they won't, sell them for what you can get.

Yep...a visit to any of your local markets will give you an idea of how they are priced locally...

I'd just let them know I had extra, see if they were interested, and ask *them* what a fair price is.

That's just me.

Boy chives. I am not sure, BUT I would try you local user as you have been. I would set your self a price like you asked.

If you under sell your self to bad. Price them as needed. You may over price the local. To bad.

I would find the closet PRODUCE market. Not farmers market. Call them and tell them what you have.

In most cases they will buy them from you.

Many of us are used to farmers markets, but produce markets are a diff world.

If you can not locate you local market let me know. I will forward you to them.

EVERY city has one.

A local farmer's market is likely you best bet. I had an idea for fresh herbs offered a farmers market or roadside stand, I haven't actually done it yet, but I was thinking, why not start your herbs in 1/2 gallon pots (light weight ones), then bring as many as you can to the farmers market and only harvest as much as you can sell. Harvest as the customer watches. That way, if it doesn't sell you do not loose product

Chives are retailed for about $2.50 1/2oz locally.

Hugs,
Marlene

I have chives growing an a patch about 50' wide and 150' long, the more I mow them down the more they come back. I'm guessing someone had a herb garden there years ago and it just got out of control. We eat them with carrots. I didn't have any luck trying to sell them so I gave up and I give them away to whoever wants to come and cut some for themselves.
