Need Help with well pump

We ran our well dry yesterday and now I'm having trouble getting it re-started. Its an above ground pump. The tank has pressure, but I can't get the pump to prime. It seems to start fine, I can hear water moving in the pipes to the pump, but the pump's pressure guage doesn't even flicker and no water moving into the tank.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Together we can prime it provided you can/will follow the instructions explicitly. It can be difficult and will require persistance and maybe a little bit of plumbing. My bedside manners aren/t too good either but I can fix a pump.
I need some information.
Is there a cutoff valve from the storage tank to the house?
Is there a cutoff valve from the pump to the storage tank?
How close is the nearest working source (neighbor) of water?
Do you have a bladder tank or an older style storage tank?
What is the highest point (gauge, tee, pipe plug, etc) on the pump that you can open to get to the water inside the pipe/pump ?
Is the pipe used to plumb the well plastic or metal ?
I am going to want a ball valve between the pump and the storage tank, can you make that happen? I am going to want a working pressure gauge on the pump side of the ball valve.
Are you still interested in working with me? : )

Well, after trying to open the nut to prime the pump and discovering that I didn't have a wrench large enough I decided I would remove the guage and see what that would do. When I took it off it let out a big whoosh of air. Ah-ha! I added a bit of water, but I didn't have a funnel with me so didn't get too much in. Put the guage back on and let it sit for awhile. DW turned on the pump awhile later and the tank was filled within 3 minutes.
Oh the joys of running water!!!!!!
