Old Leather Smell

I recently took some stuff out of storage that was in there for about 9 years. In there where some leather items that had molded. I cleaned them with saddle soap. Even hanging them outside for 2 weeks they still had that old stink to them. Anyone know how to get rid of it? Thanks for any help!!!

Try putting some charcoal briquetes (sp) in a paper sack and putting the sack in a container holding the leather items. Leave for a couple of weeks.

Sounds like you've already hung it in the sun. Leather will absorb odors so...

I'd rub in (very well) any kind of oil that is pure oil that has a smell you like.

Home Health makes an almond oil -Almond Glow. The only ingredients are peanut oil, olive oil, lanolin oil and Vitamin E.

Or check with a shoe reapir place. They may have something for shoe odors that you can try.

But that's me, I experiment. My attitude is that it can't be any worse...
