weather question

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing weird weather around the country? Today I witnessed a dust storm the likes of which I have NEVER seen here. The wind was blowing so hard and the dirt was so thick that you couldn't see three feet in front of the vehicle. The dust was about 50 feet in the air and could be seen for miles. As a result we lost a good deal of seeded land. We also had a lot of thunder yesterday with NO rain? Really strange for northwestern Minnesota.

My weather this month has been normal. However our winter we got only 60% of our normal rain and a week of record hard freezes, when in a normal winter if we get a single hard freeze it is an Event.

We had snow on the 20th, hard freeze two nights ago, and going to be 80 thursday, The kind of weather that gives you a cold. going from winter to summer, skiping spring this year.

It got hot here early this year. Then we went through almost a week of frosts then hot, then cool. It's been really strange and DRY!!!! Normally spring is really wet in north alabama but this year we've had next to no rain. I think we're like 15+ inches behind

It is doing the same thing here. It is supposed to get down to the low 30's on Friday night.. I am holding off on planting out my plants as I don't want to have to cover them up and with winds like we had yesterday the covers would only blow away..

Al Quaeda et al ought to claim responsibility in a Dr. Evil comic sci fi sort of way. Surprised they haven't. Guess they'd lose ALL credibility with us. Perhaps they are at least telling their Arab/ME audience (if they bother to notice our weather) that "Even the great Weather Djinns (genies) are punishing our enemies."

I blame the gays, lesbians, liberals, illegal immigrants, permissive lifestyles, ACLU and (fill in the blank with your favorite scapegoat here) for the severe drought we have here in the Southeast. :1pig:

We are in extreme drought (one level below the max, which is severe); there is smoke in the air here from fires over in Fla./Ga. about 600 miles away today; I have had a sore throat/allergies for 2 months due to dust/pollen/smoke; bug/insects here are at least 4 weeks ahead on their development as they race to breed before they die; bullfrogs started singing 6 weeks ahead of normal; my ponds are down to August water levels now; my fertilized hay crop was only 2/3 of a normal unfertilized spring crop; and we are past the wet season here and into the time when it is normally drier.

Next possible wet season: November.

How's that for strange? It's gonna be a long dusty summer. I am fencing as much new pasture as I can, cuz there will be some bargains on livestock about August. I wish I had a barnfull of round hay bales for this December. They will probably reach $100. They got to $65 last December, and spring hay now is selling at $50.

I have to say around here it seems fairly normal. The only thing that was mentioned on the news that is off is the slow melt off of mountain snow.

Is the weather ever calm and normal in MinneSnowta? I lived in Glencoe for a few years and it was always wild. It is too cold in the winter and the skeeters are too big in the summer.

I guess so

I guess so since rains filled up the Arkansas River and broke through some dikes in Reno County, Kansas a couple weeks ago.

Currently raining hard and my gauge is fast approaching the 5 inch mark for the last 24 hours. I have heard that Cow Creek is already out of its banks. Also with so much rain falling so fast many streets have standing water and cars and idiot drivers flooding them out in the intersections.

Thankfully the tornado warning was canceled just minutes before the threat was to hit. I think this year is the first our warning sirens have sounded since 1991.

Send some rain to NC. We haven't seen rain in a month, and none is predicted for the next two weeks. It's the driest time I've ever seen trying to plant a garden.

We used to have "normal" winters with lots of snow and cold. The past three years it has been the sunbelt of the north with very mild temps and barely any snow. We used to have normal rains in the warmer months but that too has changed and we have been in a drought for the past few years.. Minnesnowta used to be the land of 10,000 lakes. I flew over half the state last year and couldn't believe all of the dried up lakes, and rivers.. It seems to be that patterns are changing- must be the evildoers!LOL>
