Skatchet Users

Has anyone ever used a skatchet, and how you liked using it to trim brush and vines? Is it worth the seemingly high price.

Ive never used one, but I would find it hard to believe it could work any better than a GOOD machete for most things. Its an interesting toy though

i think part of the problem is finding a GOOD machete

most of the ones i find are made of very poor grade steel

but i have never tried a skatchete

do you have a link to the skatchet? By the way, I believe its best quality was its portability. I really doubt it will be all that wonderful for plain old work. But, if you need to do that work a few miles hike away, then yeah.

They have them at lehmans.com called a machete plus, the same thing, 75 bucks. I see no reason you could not make one. Seems simple enough, especially if you could find and old good quality metal saw blade. I just wanted to know if anyone had used one and how they liked them for trimming brush. Theres something about that curved blade that makes me think it will do the job.

wELL, that is quite a bit different than what I consider a skatchet. I have been looking for a "skatchet" ever since they talked of one in a camping booklet a long time ago. That machete plus does look like it would be good for larger diameter brush and such. Another "tool" you may consider is a brush axe.
