How to repair clay field tile?

Anyone know the proper way/have experience repairing broken clay field tile using plastic tile? I don't have a source of clay tile and I thought the plastic would be less expensive too. I just rented out a field for beans and told the guy that I would need to fix the tile, but he decided to plant anyway (big storms were on the way). Thanks in advance for the replies!

A temporary option would be to get some fiberglass cloth and resin and make a patch over the damaged portion of clay tile. It might take several layers to make it as strong as you need. You will need to clean the clay where the resin will adhere.

I'd also recommend that you wear gloves that will not deteriorate from the resin.

What about the Cardboard tubes, place one cut in half over the broken tile add concrete mixed kinda on the dry side. then after drying cover with soil. But also you will need some wire to renforce the concrete..

They make a tapered end for the plastic tile that will fit into the clay. Dig up a length of tile to make sure you get a dozen or so good clay tiles, replace the entire section with plastic and then you will have enough tiles for the next 4-5 repair jobs.
