Gas Prices

What are the gas prices in your area? Here in Ind. it's $3.18 a gal.
If you notice the food prices are going higher too.
How many are planting a bigger gardens to can this year to help save money.

In Ashland, WI it is currently $3.14. It's been steadily going up in the last month. We're in the middle of a big move, but I hope to get something in for a garden this summer. Any little bit would help the grocery bill as far as a garden goes.

gas

I filled up this morning for $2.799. That is down from $2.869 of last week. It is still way too high. I am not planting more, but I am doing better at taking care of what I have planted. And I have promised myself not to waste want I can't use and give it to others, even help them can or freeze it.

3.21 here
My garden is as big as it can get. I do have a few more things in pots this year though. Right now I am thinking of some way to keep having lettuce all summer. Seems it goes to heck right about the time we want it the most.

A couple of things that have worked for me (limited success) is to plant leaf lettuce (mixed varieties) instead of head lettuce and plant some where they get quite a bit of shade. Of course staggered plantings - I used every three weeks last year - help. There was only 2-3 weeks from May - October that I didn't have lettuce. We also, however, had a relatively cool summer.

Depending on where you are any/all of these may/may not work - doubt that it would do much good in the deep South.

Oh yeah, $3.05 here today (down from $3.15 last Fri). Diesel is usually 40¢ @ gal higher than 87 octane - noticed today that it was $2.74.

$3.55 today 87 oct. We always have a big garden. With the price of market veggies it may actually save some bucks this year.

I live in eastern Ontario and here gas is $1.05/liter. We just built a house and are planning on putting a 15' x 40' garden in this year, hopefully larger next year and are trying to limit our driving also. Chris
