Fifth annual fall Buffalo River campout....
Those of us that were at the spring campout did some talking and deciding about what we were or weren't going to do this fall. Some of the things we decided were:[and Marlene, or any of the rest of you that were there, feel free to correct me if wrong!]
1] We are going to do this at the individual camping area at Buffalo Point. There are several reasons for this. They are it is closer to the river, showers, and pretty much everthing else too...
2] You are allowed five tents per site, at 3 bucks per person, per night.
3] The dates are not decided yet, but I don't think we ought to do anything around labor day weekend.
So, if anyone has any ideas, or preferences, let us know.

You can bet we'll be there, no matter the date.

Labor Day weekend is the 1st-3rd, and because the following weekend is usually a rather quieter one at the Park, I vote for 7th-9th.
The individual sites are down closer to the river, which should still be warm enough for swimming, it can't be any cooler then it was this time...which I had taken pictures of the faces of those who braved the chill. I hope we can schedule a canoe trip - even if it's just a short one.
Leslie, I'm really looking foreward to seeing you. I think in celebration we should plan to dance around the campfire about midnight on Saturday? What you think, think you'll be up for it? I'm thinking of a few other female campers I think might be willing to dance with us, TanaMc, Vera, Marvella, Rhea,...do ya'll think you can make it to help Leslie celebrate?
I'm sure hoping all the people who would like to be there can start stashing away gas money, or whatever it takes to get'em there. We certainly would not mind meeting some new people, as well as seeing some that we have missed. And new ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Even if you can't be there, please share your ideas with us, on what homesteading skills you can teach or would like to learn, I know planning demos need to get an early start.
Looking foreward to fall,
Marlene

Lord willing and the proverbial creek don't rise, I'll put on that pair of truly ugly and outlandish "gold" dancing slippers which I have in my closet, and be ready to romp and stomp with anyone who's up to it..ROFLOL.

Hi. I have been following all this campout stuff awhile, and menionted it to my wife. We are interested in making the trip sometime, but couldn't this time.
Can someone please PM me about it? Is it open to anyone? How many come? Etc.
Thanks in advance. It sounds like a real fun time, and it would be great to be part of a tradition like this.

Jim, hope you don't mind that it's not a P.M.; some others might have the same questions and this will let them know too.
Yes it is open to anyone. We never actually know how many are coming until they actually show up, we've had as many as 50-55 and as few as 20. We certainly like seeing old friends, and just like making new ones.
LaDonna, only problem I have with that late in the month is the risk of it getting a little chilly at night. Please do not lecture me on it not being that cold, being a whimp, etc. etc. ... it was asked if there would be any problems with those dates and I have problems with being too cold But I will agree, it is called a Fall Campout...so it really should be in the fall right?
Jim, I'm hoping Marvella will be able to come this time, she lives in Eastern Tennessee, so she might be able to lead the way for you if you decide to make it.
Hugs,
Marlene

We had one in September at Tyler Bend and we all went swimming. It was wonderful. I even went in and I hate cold water!
I have my pictures back so will put them in Photo bucket and will try to post them on here. Or is that a no no?
No blackmail pictures this time either. DARN!

I'm not fooled by your memories of swimming in September, Corky, remember I went in also...it was the first weekend in September not the last I'm sure if those are the dates we pick, end of September, I'll survive. If nothing else I'll bring one of my dogs...with Phoenix that should do the trick. (For those who don't know, Phoenix is LaDonna's dog, who since he was a puppy has liked sleeping on my cot, sleeping bag, or whatever.)
I'm sure hoping gas prices drop off some by then so more people will be able to share the weekend with us.
Hugs,
Marlene

 Don't be a baby Marlene.
Just think. That camp fire will feel really good while you are cooking your newest creation.
Good morning. Do you have your chores done? We do.
the Sultan has already been shoveling poop this AM.
So Sultans usually do that sort of thing?

Thanks, Marlene. We'll have to see how the farm work goes, but it would be fun to go!

I see we missed some of you when taking pictures, or ..... you were hiding.
I went back and edited and added names. Okgoatgal and Daughter Caitlan are missing I see and so is Son Jesse.
Maybe someone else will post pictures of those I missed.
We need pictures of the river posted. I was out of film by then.
