Cleaning Music CD's

I tried google search but no luck. So I came here to ask if anyone knows the best way (chemicals/materials) to wipe down and remove dust and fingerprints from music cd's ?
Thanks

Cleaning

I recently had a trial period for Netflix. One of the DVDs was horrible about half way into the movie. I removed it see if it was scratched and couldn't see any damage, fingerprints or other obstruction.

The sleeve the DVD came in said to clean with a small amount of dishwashing detergent or window cleaner. I opted for the window cleaner treatment and the DVD played flawlessly even though I hadn't been able to see anything wrong with it.

I would think that CDs could also be cleaned with the window cleaner and that is what I would use after such good luck with the DVD.

we have a Skip Dr. while that is a bit much for dust and fingerprints, it does get rid of the surface scratches.....it has fixed prob about 95% of the scratched CD/DVDs we have....if only I could get my CD changer and all the CDs from the jeep to be clean at the same time...*sigh*

Thanks for the help. I really dont have a problem with scratches. I mostly just want to safely remove dust and fingerprints. I think I will try the window cleaner. I just didnt want to use something so chemically strong that it would remove any of the printing on the top side. I just want to safely dust them off and clean them up.
Thanks again.

Isoprobyl (rubbing) alcohol and a soft cloth will work well. This is the lens cleaner the optical shop charges $2 an ounce for.

I just swish mine around in a little soapy dishwater, rinse, and let air dry.

I use eyeglass cleaner and an old diaper. Same as for my glasses. Works just fine.

Whatever solution you use to wet the CD, wipe it off straight across the disc and not around in a circle (like a vinyl record). This came with the directions on a cleaner set we got quite some time ago.

A spray of Windex and a soft paper towel (viva brand) or a soft cotton cloth.

Fixes it every time
