This may seem like a stupid question, but where do you get no trespassing signs? I saw them at walmart, but was wondering if they sell boxes of them anywhere. We just bought some property, and need to post it, but are going to need quite a few and would rather buy a box of them.

You can buy Tyvek signs in rolls of various amounts from Agway, Tractor Supply, Ag-Supply, Gemplers (both mail order), or any co-op in your area I would think has them. Use one inch roofing nails, not staples, which will rust out rapidly.

Look around on the net. You can probably find them for sale there. Have them shipped right to your door..

I tried using purple paint, and found that most of the idiots that trespass have no clue what it means. Yea, it will help if they are prosecuted but how often does that happen?

Just understand that just because you post your ground, doesn't mean people are actually going to listen to it!

Once my wife & I moved to ground that has been in her family for several generations, we ended up posting it with "No Trespassing" signs. Come hunting season, I see a pickup pull off along the road, and hunters get out and start walking through the field.

When I approached them and told them I owned the land and explained that it was posted, they assured me that they had been hunting on this ground since they were kids.

They weren't too happy when they found out No Trespassing meant no trespassing - including them!

We've gotten ours from Voss Sign Company. I highly recommend them for quality and selection. Check out their website, you'll be amazed: www.vosssigns.com

They make have several dozen different "No tresspassing" signs including different wording, different colors (orange, yellow), different materials (aluminum, plastic), various thicknesses, you name it!

Our favoite sign is this one:

In North Carolina you can register your land with the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. They will give you signs to post and passes for you to give to whoever has your permission. Anyone caught on said land with out a pass for whatever reason, will be prosecuted by the state for trespassing with out an entry permit. Most folks I've talked to thats in the program, like it. Might pay to check with your state. If you see someone on land without your consent call your local law enforcement. Now its their job.

It is amazing that the No Trespassers learn quickly if the air is let out of their tires by loosening the valve stem.... When I worked at the Fish Hatcheries, I noticed that folks become illerate as to posted signs such as "No Parking", "Don't Feed The Fish", and "No Trespassing"!!! I guess when you go vacation, most folks loose their literacy skills, or think that they are exempt!!!

Rose2005, always remember to take some sort of protection with you when out in the wilds with your kids.. It is better to have it and not need it, then the other way around. I am the last house on a private road with at least 6 NO Tresspassing/ Keep Out signs before my gate, yet there is always some fool that winds up driving past them, saying "What Signs??"

I second Voss Signs. That's where we got ours and it is who the forestry uses. You can even have them add your name if you want.

Be sure you check your local state laws on posting, and follow them to the letter, or you are wasting your time. In TN, trespassing is extremely hard to prosecute unless every bit of the law is followed on posting. I forget all the technicalities, cuz I skipped it when I found out my name, address and phone number has to be on each and every sign in legible fashion. I think they have to be every 200 feet around the perimeter, too, or something like that. No thanks. I did put up some signs, but they do not meet the legal requirements in TN for prosecuting a trespasser.

2 years ago, I caught some teens back by my ponds getting ready to start a campfire in a drought....pasture was all yellow. I asked if their parents knew they were doing this. The one kid said their parents didn't care WHAT they did, they were drunk all the time. So I fixed them, went around to the house and repeated that quote to daddy. Never saw 'em again.

Heheheheh....

We order signs from Voss too. In fact, we have the one above and love it. Also got one that says "OLD DOG, YOUNG DOG, SEVERAL STUPID DOGS. PLEASE SLOW DOWN".

The Wal Mart here also sells no trespassing signs on a roll. And Ebay is a great place to buy signs too.
